I’ve had the fortune of experiencing different types of jobs. Your typical corporate desk-bound 9-to-5 job (except it’s not really 9-to-5, is it?), a flexible freelance side hustle as a swim coach and now, I’m a financial services consultant! I must say, I do prefer a flexi-hours job over a desk-bound job with set hours. The freedom and control I have over my own time is invaluable, especially now that I have my own family. So, when I was approached to consider a financial services career, that was definitely one of the advantages that I saw.
As a swim coach, I enjoy my interactions with parents and spending time with the kids, too. As a financial services consultant, it’s the engagements I have with client that I really look forward to. In both these careers, trust is imperative. Parents trust me to take care of their children in the water. The level of trust is such that, they don’t even need to be there to keep an eye on me or their kids! Children also have a natural instinct to know who they can trust. But with parents or children, you start from zero and you earn their trust. And when you’ve earned it, you work on building and keeping that trust. Being an advisor is somewhat similar and that is how I see my relationships with my clients.
I've also experienced the importance of insurance on a personal level. When my father had a heart attack, I saw first-hand how crucial it was to have the right coverage to support his recovery. Later, when I was expecting my own child, I made sure to get her fully insured and protected from the start. Going through that process made me realize how overwhelming it can be to navigate the complex world of insurance, and that's why I'm passionate about helping my clients find the right solutions for their needs. I understand the peace of mind that comes with knowing you're prepared for life's unexpected events, and I'm dedicated to helping my clients achieve that same sense of security."
As a financial services consultant, it goes without saying that we bring our professionalism, knowledge, experience and expertise on solutions to help clients meet their goals. But beyond that, I believe in building trust and maintaining long-term relationships with my clients. This can’t happen if I’m just pushing for a quick sale. Planning a client’s financial goals needs to be holistic and requires a comprehensive understanding not just about the dollars and cents but the client’s values and dreams.
